We are a group of volunteer weeders/gardeners who decided to brighten up some neglected areas of Wivey using insect and bee friendly plants, most of which have come from our own gardens. It all started when we began weeding the steps between Croft Way Car Park and the Community Centre as it was very overgrown and didn't present the town in a good iight. That led to us digging out and replanting the bed at the bottom of the steps. Then we took on a complete revamp of the Herb Garden (a little known space to the far left at the top of the steps but open to all) with the help of some XR members. We then took on the bank in the car park which is beginning to look beautiful, and we planted fruit trees alongside. We are aiming to have plants which flower throughout the year to give the insects a year-round buffet! The latest project is the revamp of the beds which run along the top edge of the Recreation Ground, including the newly built Memorial Garden. If you fancy joining us for our informal sessions, we would welcome new input and new ideas, and then we could expand even further around Wivey!
