Wiveliscombe is a small historic market town on the edge of the Brendon Hills in western Somerset, close to Exmoor National Park. It provides many services for the walker, and is surrounded by attractive hills and a well signposted path network.

Wiveliscombe has many  independent shops selling top quality locally produced food. It is also a centre for local artists and crafts people. There is weekly farmers market every Saturday morning where you can buy vegetables. fish, cheese, bread, plants and much more.

The Wivey Way and Brendon Towers Way are 2 long distance routes that take in the beautiful hills and varied countryside surrounding Wiveliscombe.

  • publicising Wiveliscombe's attractions as a walking centre on the edge of Exmoor
  • encouraging local businesses to make the most of their opportunities to reach the walking market
  • providing practical aids for planning walks
  • liaising with other organisations to spread the message as widely as possible

Wivey Walkers

Each month, the Wivey Walkers organise two walks of between 6 and 10 miles. Details of these walks can be found on the Wivey Walkers page of this website.

There is also a Gentle Wivey Walkers group which meets fortnighly for walks of between 2 and 4 miles. Details of how to join these walks are available on the Wivey Walkers page.
